Close your eyes and envision the prototypical perfumer. Now open them and glance at Ben Gorham, 1.95 metres tall, covered in tattoos, with more formal training in the crossover dribble than in crossover fragrances.
You can be forgiven if the two images don’t exactly jibe. Gorham, after all, took a curious path to his calling as the driving force behind Byredo Parfums, the Stockholm-based fragrance house that he launched in 2006.
Ten Travel Tips
I take about 100 flights and travel up to 400,000 kilometres a year. I have been upgraded for free just twice in 700 flights, which is a pretty lousy ratio. That’s because I have no Gold Cards, even though I could stuff a mattress with all my boarding stubs. All my points are spread across a dozen cards.
So, tip number one…
1. Try to always fly with the same airline partner and earn more reward points.
